Squishable Comfort Food Soup Dumpling Review: A Cuddly Tribute to Your Favorite Dim Sum

If you’ve ever craved the warm, savory comfort of a soup dumpling (xiaolongbao) but wished you could hug it without making a mess, Squishable has answered your prayers. The Squishable Comfort Food Soup Dumpling is the latest addition to their beloved Comfort Food series, bringing the iconic dim sum treat to life as a huggable plush. In this review, we’ll dive into its design, softness, and why it deserves a spot in your collection.

Squishable has long been known for turning everyday foods into irresistibly cute plushies, from the Comfort Food Ramen to the Comfort Food Pizza Slice. The Soup Dumpling continues this tradition with a level of detail that will make any foodie smile. Whether you’re a dim sum enthusiast or just love unique plush toys, this review will help you decide if this squishy friend is right for you.

Design and Details: A Mini Masterpiece

The Squishable Comfort Food Soup Dumpling captures the essence of a real xiaolongbao with remarkable accuracy. It features a pleated top that mimics the hand-folded wrapper, complete with a tiny ‘soup’ splash detail on one side. The plush is primarily a soft off-white color, with subtle shading that gives it a steamed, slightly translucent appearance. The embroidered eyes and blush cheeks add a kawaii expression that makes it impossible not to smile.

Measuring about 8 inches in diameter, this plush is perfectly sized for cuddling or displaying on a desk. The stitching is clean and durable, ensuring the pleats hold their shape even after repeated hugs. Compared to other food plushies like the Comfort Food Ramen, the Soup Dumpling feels more compact and rounded, making it an ideal stress-relief squeeze toy.

• Pleated top with realistic wrapper texture
• Embroidered happy face with blush cheeks
• Soft, squishy polyester fill – perfect for hugging

Texture and Cuddliness: Soft as Steamed Dough

One of the first things you’ll notice is the incredible softness of the Soup Dumpling. The outer fabric is a plush microsuede that feels smooth and velvety, similar to the texture of a real dumpling skin. Inside, the filling is generously packed but still yields to pressure, giving it that satisfying squish factor. It’s not overly firm, so it works well as a pillow for naps or a companion for movie nights.

The plush is also lightweight, making it easy to carry around the house or take on trips. If you’re a fan of the Squishable Capybara or other standard plushies, you’ll appreciate the consistent quality of the Comfort Food line. The Soup Dumpling’s rounded shape makes it especially huggable – it fits comfortably in the crook of your arm.

• Microsuede fabric for a silky touch
• Medium-firm squish – not too hard, not too floppy
• Lightweight and portable for on-the-go cuddles

Comparison to Other Comfort Food Plushies

The Comfort Food series includes a variety of beloved dishes, from the Comfort Food Pizza Slice to the Comfort Food Ranch. The Soup Dumpling stands out for its unique shape and cultural significance. While the Pizza Slice is flat and slice-shaped, the Soup Dumpling is three-dimensional and round, offering a different hugging experience. The Ramen bowl, on the other hand, is larger and more detailed with separate noodle and egg components.

If you’re looking to start or expand your food plush collection, the Soup Dumpling is a fantastic addition. It pairs well with other Asian-inspired plushies like the Mini Squishable Crab Roll or even the Alter Egos Series 4: Decaf Coffee for a playful breakfast spread. The versatility of the Comfort Food line means you can mix and match to create a whimsical food court on your shelf.

• Round vs. flat: different hugging dynamics
• Pairs well with other food plushies for themed displays
• A unique cultural representation in the series

Who Is This Plush For?

The Squishable Comfort Food Soup Dumpling is perfect for anyone who loves dim sum, appreciates cute food-themed decor, or simply enjoys high-quality plush toys. It’s an excellent gift for foodies, anime fans, or collectors of the Squishable brand. Because of its softness and size, it’s also a great choice for children (ages 3+), though its collectible nature may appeal more to adults.

If you’re a fan of the Squishable Rainbow or other colorful plushies, the Soup Dumpling offers a more subtle, earthy palette that can balance a vibrant collection. It’s also a wonderful conversation starter – place it on your desk or coffee table, and guests will instantly ask about it.

• Great gift for dim sum lovers and foodies
• Suitable for ages 3 and up
• Perfect for desk decor or plush collections

Final Verdict

The Squishable Comfort Food Soup Dumpling is a delightful plush that lives up to the brand’s reputation for cute, high-quality comfort items. Its detailed design, soft texture, and perfect size make it a standout in the Comfort Food series. While it may not be as iconic as the Pizza Slice or as quirky as the Alter Egos Series 7: Skeleton Penguin, it holds its own as a unique and cuddly tribute to a beloved dish.

If you’re on the fence, consider this: the Soup Dumpling is a limited-edition release, so it may not be available forever. For fans of Squishable food plushies, it’s a must-have that brings a taste of dim sum into your home without the calories.

• Pros: Adorable design, ultra-soft, great size for hugging
• Cons: May be too small for those who prefer larger plushies
• Overall rating: 9/10 – highly recommended
